Biojoule produce an environmentally-friendly plastic

12-Jul-2007

Genesis Research and Development has produced a 'green' plastic from natural lignin which is extracted from shrubby willow grown by their subsidiary BioJoule.

Although only small quantities of lignan were extracted BioJoule's Managing Director, Dr. Jim Watson believes that the pilot project shows the potential to manufacture 'green' plastics from shrubby willow that is sustainably produced in coppicable plantations. Such sustainable production may reduce the dependency on petrochemicals when producing polyurethane.
